There are a handful of colours that are so impossible to put your finger on that their uniqueness is worth mentioning.

The first we released along this vein was the Type 01 in Nevada Sand - a colouration of stunning suede that words completely fail to describe.

The Moss Sand leather on this pair of Hutton Playtime chukkas fits the bill just as well.

Moss Sand is certainly a shade between brown and green, though for the life of us we couldn't tell you which of the two is the dominant hue. You'll have to let us know which you think it is.

Looking at the leather there seems to be an all out war between brown and green, and which in the moment is the more dominant colour.

We've tried to take pictures to illustrate exactly what we mean, but certainly this is one of those things that photography and lighting can't quite capture.

In overcast, shady outdoor lighting, the leather looks brown, almost - with a subtle tinge of green - only a hint - peering through.

Put the boots in full sun and you'll see the warmth of the green more clearly. Subtle, still not enough to really commit to one colour over the other, but the green is more obviously there.

Then when the boots are taken indoors, somehow the green tones become far more plain to the naked eye, and magically it seems as though they have transformed colour to a very earthy, very brown-toned shade of green.

This is especially obvious when they stand atop wood, where you definitely would feel uncomfortable stating they are a true brown.

They're about as green as brown can get, or as brown as green can get, whichever way you prefer to look at it. Utterly fascinating.

Our best guess is these boots may cause a sort of (remember that viral blue and black versus white and gold dress debate that became an internet phenomenon?) in real time.

Even looking at the photographs of the boots on different devices makes us see the boots as a bit greener or a bit more brown, it's quite an interesting shade to say the least.

Needless to say, like our Nevada Sand leather - this colour is not for those who are looking for shoes that are standard issue, commonplace.

For those looking for something quite obviously unique and inexplicably interesting? All while still matching pretty well near any outfit you might pull together because of their brown undertone? The Moss Sand Playtime certainly fits the bill.
